What is serum for skin

So, if you're like me and you've ever stood in front of a shelf full of skincare products, trying to figure out what all those little bottles do you’re not alone. One that pops up a lot. Serums. But what is a serum for, exactly?

I used to think it was just something extra brands try to sell you. Turns out, it's not just a gimmick. When used right, a serum can help your skin a lot.

Why People Rave About It

The main thing that sets a serum apart. It's super light and absorbs quickly, but it's loaded with ingredients that do stuff. Unlike your regular moisturizer, which mostly sits on the surface and locks moisture in, serums go deeper and deliver the good stuff straight into your skin.

Different Serums, Different Jobs

Here's the cool part, you can get one based on what your skin needs. Like:

1) Skin feeling dry or tight? Grab something with hyaluronic acid or glycerin.

2) Want to tackle lines or sagging? Go for retinol, peptides, or something like astaxanthin.

3) Dull skin or dark spots? Niacinamide or vitamin C might be your go-to.

4) Breaking out? Salicylic acid, tea tree oil, or zinc can help a ton.

5) Skin easily gets red or irritated? Aloe vera or centella are your best friends.

Basically, there's no one size fits all. That's kind of the point.

How I Use It?

Honestly, I just keep it simple:

1) Wash face. No skipping.

2) Maybe a toner, but not always.

3) While my skin’s still a bit damp, I pat in a few drops of the serum.

4) Wait a little scroll Instagram or brush my teeth.

5) Then moisturizer. Done.

6) If it’s morning, sunscreen is non-negotiable.

Is It a Must?

Look, it’s not mandatory. If your routine is working fine, great. But if you’re dealing with something dryness, breakouts, uneven tone adding the right serum can help. No miracles, but progress.
